Other Industry Research

These are all the other branches of the Industry research tree. These branch off from the essential research parts of the Industry research tree.

Stone Quarrying

Level 1 Gives access to stone quarry’s
Level 2 increase stone productivity by 20%
Level 3 increase stone productivity by 40%
Level 4 increase stone productivity by 60%
Level 5 increase stone productivity by 80%
Level 6 increase stone productivity by 100%
Level 7 increase stone productivity by 150%
Level 8 increase stone productivity by 200%

Stone is the main component in building your castle and also very important for most village buildings so you really need to get a lot of quarry’s built in each village and get production researched as high as possible.

Forestry

Level 1 Gives access to woodcutters huts
Level 2 increase lumber productivity by 20%
Level 3 increase lumber productivity by 40%
Level 4 increase lumber productivity by 60%
Level 5 increase lumber productivity by 80%
Level 6 increase lumber productivity by 100%
Level 7 increase lumber productivity by 150%
Level 8 increase lumber productivity by 200%

Lumber is the main resource needed to build your village buildings and is also used heavily in weapon production as well. This is probably the most important resource to concentrate on at the very start of the game so you should get this researched as high as possible as quick as you can.

Iron Mining

Level 1 Gives access to iron mines
Level 2 increase iron productivity by 20%
Level 3 increase iron productivity by 40%
Level 4 increase iron productivity by 60%
Level 5 increase iron productivity by 80%
Level 6 increase iron productivity by 100%
Level 7 increase iron productivity by 150%
Level 8 increase iron productivity by 200%

Iron is another resource that is not used much at the start of the game but is used heavily in weapon production and for some castle structures. Iron can be sold for massive amounts of gold so if you want to make a lot of gold you can research this up and start selling it, however get your essential researches done first.

Pitch Extraction

Level 1 Gives access to pitch rigs
Level 2 increase pitch productivity by 20%
Level 3 increase pitch productivity by 40%
Level 4 increase pitch productivity by 60%
Level 5 increase pitch productivity by 80%
Level 6 increase pitch productivity by 100%
Level 7 increase pitch productivity by 150%
Level 8 increase pitch productivity by 200%

Pitch is used only for making pitch pots in your castle. It’s not really essential to research this until you start making marsh villages. But it can be sold for huge amounts of gold so when you have most of your other essential researches done you can concentrate on this if you have marsh villages.

Hunting

Level 1 Gives access to hunters huts
Level 2 increase venison production by 20%
Level 3 increase venison production by 40%
Level 4 increase venison production by 60%
Level 5 increase venison production by 80%
Level 6 increase venison production by 100%
Level 7 increase venison production by 120%
Level 8 increase venison production by 150%

Hunting research increases your venison production which is used in banqueting. You will find that there is usually an abundance of venison at the markets because many players will make it as one of their first honour goods. It’s up to yourself whether to make it although you will still usually get a decent price for it. You can at later stages remove your hunter’s huts if you are short of space and replace them with other buildings such as weapon making ones.

Carpentry

Level 1 Gives access to carpenters workshops
Level 2 increase furniture production by 20%
Level 3 increase furniture production by 40%
Level 4 increase furniture production by 60%
Level 5 increase furniture production by 80%
Level 6 increase furniture production by 100%
Level 7 increase furniture production by 120%
Level 8 increase furniture production by 150%

Carpentry increases your furniture production and in the forest village type you can make an absolutely massive amount of furniture with a high research and the bonus from the village type, and also if you have the furniture guild in the parish capital. Carpenters workshops are like hunters huts in the fact that a lot of furniture will be available at the markets and so at later stages you can remove them if you need and use the space for better buildings although in the forest village type it’s worth keeping them because of the bonus you receive.

Metal Bashing

Level 1 Gives access to metalware workshops
Level 2 increase metalware production by 20%
Level 3 increase metalware production by 40%
Level 4 increase metalware production by 60%
Level 5 increase metalware production by 80%
Level 6 increase metalware production by 100%
Level 7 increase metalware production by 120%
Level 8 increase metalware production by 150%

Metalware workshops are the best option if you have mountain peak type villages. The reason being that even with 30 iron mines, the most you can make in your village, you still have a good chunk of iron on which to build. Metalware workshops can be places here because the iron deposit are quite close to the village hall meaning you can receive a good amount of production from only a few metalware workshops. Metalware will also build up in quite a large numbers in most markets so it’s not essential to build metalware workshops.

Tailoring

Level 1 Gives access to tailors workshops
Level 2 increase clothes production by 20%
Level 3 increase clothes production by 40%
Level 4 increase clothes production by 60%
Level 5 increase clothes production by 80%
Level 6 increase clothes production by 100%
Level 7 increase clothes production by 120%
Level 8 increase clothes production by 150%

In salt flats clothes receive a big bonus to their production, combine this with a tailors guild in the parish capital and a high level of research for tailoring and you can make a large number of clothes every day. Clothes are something which can be scarce in markets at times so producing them yourself means you can save the hassle of trying to buy them all the time. The big problem with these buildings is that they take up quite a bit of space in your village when you build a lot.

Wine Production

Level 1 Gives access to vineyards
Level 2 increase wine production by 20%
Level 3 increase wine production by 40%
Level 4 increase wine production by 60%

Level 5 increase spice production by 80%
Level 6 increase spice production by 100%
Level 7 increase spice production by 120%
Level 8 increase spice production by 150%

This research increases your spice production.

Silk Trade

Level 1 Gives access to silk docks
Level 2 increase silk production by 20%
Level 3 increase silk production by 40%
Level 4 increase silk production by 60%
Level 5 increase silk production by 80%
Level 6 increase silk production by 100%
Level 7 increase silk production by 120%
Level 8 increase silk production by 150%

This research increases your silk production.

Fletching

Level 1 Gives access to silk docks
Level 2 increase bow productivity by 25%
Level 3 increase bow productivity by 50%
Level 4 increase bow productivity by 75%
Level 5 increase bow productivity by 100%
Level 6 increase bow productivity by 150%
Level 7 increase bow productivity by 200%
Level 8 increase bow productivity by 250%

Bows are probably the most important weapon to make and you should get this researched first out of the weapon bonus research. You will go through a lot of bows attacking AI opponents and also in defence of your castle.

Why bows are expensive

It’s not advisable to sell your bows nonstop. The reason is that it takes 100 lumber to make a bow, meaning it costs 10,000 lumber to make 100 bows. You can sell 100 bows for a maximum of about 3,000 gold, while it can cost over 1,500 gold to buy the lumber to make 100 bows. What this means is unless you get the full price for bows every time you sell them and buy lumber very cheaply you will not make anything really off selling them. Of course if you make the lumber it’s not really costing you anything, but the point is that there are much better resources to sell that you can make much more off so just let your bows accumulate and keep them for training troops only if you can.

Armour Working

Level 1 Gives access to armourers
Level 2 increase armour productivity by 25%
Level 3 increase armour productivity by 50%
Level 4 increase armour productivity by 75%
Level 5 increase armour productivity by 100%
Level 6 increase armour productivity by 150%
Level 7 increase armour productivity by 200%
Level 8 increase armour productivity by 250%

After bows armour is probably the most important type of weapon to make mainly because it is used for both swordsmen and pikemen. When attacking a large number of AI castles you will need big amounts of pikemen and swordsmen which mean you will need a lot of armour. You can sell excess armour at the market nearly always for a decent price and it is quite cheap to make costing only 50 iron each.

Poleturning

Level 1 Gives access to Poleturners
Level 2 increase pike productivity by 25%
Level 3 increase pike productivity by 50%
Level 4 increase pike productivity by 75%
Level 5 increase pike productivity by 100%
Level 6 increase pike productivity by 150%
Level 7 increase pike productivity by 200%
Level 8 increase pike productivity by 250%

Pikes can be used up very quickly when attacking AI castles because they are probably the best for taking down walls and digging up moats when under heavy archer fire so production of pikes is key to having a sustained number of pikemen.

Black Smithing

Level 1 Gives access to black smiths
Level 2 increase sword productivity by 25%
Level 3 increase sword productivity by 50%
Level 4 increase sword productivity by 75%
Level 5 increase sword productivity by 100%
Level 6 increase sword productivity by 150%
Level 7 increase sword productivity by 200%
Level 8 increase sword productivity by 250%

Swords in my opinion are not as necessary as the other weapon researches so you can research this last. Swordsmen just are not as effective when attacking AI opponents as pikemen because they die too quickly. This research can be left for a long time if you feel you have a lot more necessary things to research.

Siege Mechanics

Level 1 Gives access to siege workshops
Level 2 increase catapult productivity by 25%
Level 3 increase catapult productivity by 50%
Level 4 increase catapult productivity by 75%
Level 5 increase catapult productivity by 100%
Level 6 increase catapult productivity by 150%
Level 7 increase catapult productivity by 200%
Level 8 increase catapult productivity by 250%

Because you can only build 1 siege workshop per city the only real way to increase your catapult production is to research it. It’s worth it as catapults can be very hard to come by in markets at times and having max production of them means you can allow them to accumulate in your city. You can research this after you have done your Fletching and armour research full. You can also get a big boost by having a marsh type village and a siege guild in the parish capital.
